Who are we?   Projects   Our children   Help us to help   Volunteers   Contact us
Tibet is a high plateau with an average altitude of 4.000 meters (12.000 feet) and many mountain peaks above 8.000 meters (24.000 feet).

Most of the population are peasants who live from agriculture and nomadic live stocking. The very hard climatic and geographic conditions added to the scarce rainfalls and water resources result in short food supply, the diet consisting on roasted barley flour and dry yak meat (kind of buffalo). Services and medical care are nearly non-existent.

Quality of life is thus low, life span short and infant mortality rate high.

These very extreme life conditions are aggravated by the many social changes occurred in Tibet in the last decades.

Although life is hard on everyone, the children are the most affected sector of the population. Handicapped children, street children, and children from nomad communities are the most neglected.

Children at our projects are selected amongst the most needy and neglected : orphans, handicapped, street children, children from conflictive families, from very poor backgrounds, from nomad mountain communities...

They all suffered malnutrition, infectious diseases, lack of hygiene, proper clothing and schooling. Some of them also suffered physical or psychological mistreatments.

Kids have integrated in the projects in a very short time span. Though the hardship of their lives, they are joyful , full of energy and good willing. They cooperate heartfully in any task , enjoy everything and have created very strong bonds with us.
